Finberg School is a
three story structure with low-sloped roofs and masonry walls. The existing roof
design consisted of an Built up roof system over a wood deck. The existing roof
system suffered from varying degrees of deterioration with numerous interior
leaks and areas of standing water (ponding.) Additionally, consequential
moisture infiltration decreased the Resistance-Value of the insulation,
increasing heating and cooling costs to the Owner. The facility required a new
thermally efficient roof system to provide a weathertight and energy efficient
system.
Peterson Associates,
Inc.’s scope of work on this project included design and preparation of
specifications and drawings for a new roof system. As requested by the Owner,
Construction Documents were prepared to include several Unit Price Items for
removal and replacement of selected roof membrane components in existing roof
areas designated to be left intact. Remainder of roof areas were covered with
Firestone Systems adhered elastomeric roof membrane and flashing system.
